Sebastian Vettel is having his worst Formula 1 season so far this year. On Friday, the German finished P6 at the end of Free Practice 2; the finish came as a glimmer of hope for better things to come in Portimao. However, during qualifying, the 4-time World Champion went on to finish at P15.
Vettel was seemingly devastated over the radio at the end of the Portuguese Grand Prix. He said, “I…gave it all I had.” The German finished at P10, just edging in a point for himself.
Starting at P15 at Portimao was never going to be seamless. The traffic at the first few turns was to make chances of overtaking much lower. Vettel fans did have their expectations set low. But to hear the pain in Sebastian’s voice was truly heartbreaking.

Vettel talked about losing time in the first lap during the Main Race. He said, “We lost a lot of ground in the beginning. Not necessarily turn 1, turn 2, turn 3, but then a lot in the opening lap.”
