Haas’ drivers Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen have formally announced their exit from Haas at the end of this season. It does not really come as a surprise considering the team already hinted at this move a few days back. Nevertheless, it would be quite sad to see them leave the team and potentially Formula 1 itself. Both the drivers took to social media to make their announcements through a statement.
“The last chapter is closed, and the book is finished,” Grosjean’s statement read. It is likely that the Frenchman will leave Formula 1 following the end of this season. He has been ready for this since the beginning of this season and has probably gotten his future in the sport covered.
He could make a move to Le Mans or Formula E, as these are the two possible options he mentioned that he would opt for apart from F1.

Meanwhile, Magnussen’s statement read, “The 2020 Formula 1 season will be my last with the Haas F1 team. I have had a great time with the team for four years and I look back at a great journey.”
“Being part of a brand new team has been a challenge that I have thoroughly enjoyed and it has brought me a huge amount of experience that has helped me grow and develop as a racing driver.”
“I would like to thank Gene, Guenther, and all of the race team for their loyalty and trust in me over the past four years.”
Magnussen also mentioned that he is still exploring all the options for his future and will later make a decision on that. Haas will let go of Magnussen following a four-year journey while it is five years for Grosjean. Now the team will focus on bringing in a new pair of drivers to lead them into the future.
One will appreciate the loyalty these drivers have shown to the team over the years, as they have helped Haas find their way up to the mid-field. But unfortunately, since last season, the team progressed nowhere and were pretty much static in terms of pace. Hence, against their will, the team had to leave out both the drivers out of their line-up for 2021.
Barring the unpleasant moments they had, Magnussen and Grosjean have still proved their worth as racing drivers through their careers in Formula 1. Take a look at how Twitter reacted to the news of Magnussen and Grosjean’s announcement.
Twitter reactions to the Haas drivers’ exit
Grosjean made some silly mistakes but he always went out there and wore his heart on his sleeve.
Gonna miss him 🙁

Not a great shock, Romain’s looked increasingly like a guy who’s made peace with the end of his F1 run, but I’ll be sad to see him go. Quality racer, multiple champion on his path to the top, F1 podium finisher, and a lovely guy. Wish @RGrosjean all the best. https://t.co/eXvKf9jIIi

A shame his purple patch with Lotus didn't bring a victory. I'll remember Japan 2013, a great drive.

Thank you for letting us know Kevin
It'll be sad to see you leave, but I've enjoyed supporting you over the last 7 years (if not longer) and meeting you at @McLarenF1 in 2014
I look forward to finding out what you end up doing next after the remaining races with @HaasF1Team
