“I don’t know about you but I am feeling Twenty Two,” the Taylor Swift song fits perfectly well for Oscar Piastri. His fun-loving teammate, Lando Norris has tapped into just the right ‘Miss Americana melody’ to celebrate the young Australian. Even though McLaren didn’t complete their 2022 homework of constructing a good 2023 challenger on time however, bad luck is something that just kept coming their way before they broke the jinx in Australia. And now, with the laughter back at Woking, Lando Norris can be seen in his original element. This time it involves the rookie, Oscar Piastri, being pranked.
Oscar Piastri, who was born a month after Fernando Alonso started his Formula 1 career, celebrates his birthday today. The 22-year-old Piastri, who is the youngest driver on the grid, celebrates his first one as an F1 driver. And the Woking outfit has left no stone unturned or probably left all of them unturned for the birthday celebration of their young gun. Piastri’s teammate Lando Norris took to his official Instagram account to share a hilarious celebratory moment. The Briton can be heard incessantly laughing while his teammate is called inside a garage for the cake cutting.

While we have seen some unique cakes and celebrations in the paddock or within teams, this one just has our hearts. In the video, a puzzled Piastri is seen walking up to the cake and as he approaches it, he looks at it in utter confusion. Background commentary had Lando saying, “There he is, the birthday boy.” The video has a caption saying “worst birthday cake ever for @oscarpiastri” and well while we appreciate the emotion, the sugary delight does look a little deranged. Even Piastri echoed this emotion pointing at the cake and asking if that really was it. The rookie burst into laughter, with everyone from the garage joining in.

McLaren has been treading the line of being overly creative in the last few years. So much so that they may even be losing their brand image. While one driver wasn’t served with the best birthday cake, the other isn’t quite too pleased with the creative liberty the livery team has taken to convert the iconic livery to a completely different one.
Lando Norris has made unfulfilled requests to McLaren CEO Zak Brown
The Brit who became one of the youngest drivers to join Formula 1 in recent times landed in his favorite team McLaren. And just like the senior Briton, Lewis Hamilton, the team was a dream because he saw some drivers make a difference. For Hamilton, it was Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost, and for the young Norris; it was Hamilton and Fernando Alonso.

Talking to GQ about what attracted him to the Woking outfit, he said, “My favourite bunch. This is Lewis-Fernando[‘s car]. Big rivalry. This is what got me into Formula 1 watching these cars go round, I started actually supporting McLaren just because they looked cool.”
Missing the iconic livery, he even added, “I’ve asked Zak [Brown] many times to go back to this.” Regardless, there is also the point of whether McLaren should focus on giving Norris a better race car over being creative with these gimmicks.
