The F1 world is dynamic and full of change, but the only thing constant is Ferrari‘s woes on track. New Team Principal Frederic Vasseur brought a lot of promise to turn around Ferrari’s consistency and management in order to win the World Championship. But their 2023 season began off-note as their Talisman Charles Leclerc DNF’ed in the first race and Aston Martin showed up in style, out of the blue. And recently, Vasseur’s ambitions seem to have dropped into a state of mediocrity.
Ferrari brought a new set of upgrades for the Spanish GP. But what should have sped them up only held them back. Their lead driver, Charles Leclerc, had his worst showing in Qualifying this year as he got knocked out in Q1. Despite an unpleasant Qualifying and Race, Frederic Vasseur believes that they have taken a ‘step forward’.

Vasseur commenting on the same, said, “I think we made a step forward in terms of potential. In the race we made a step forward compared to Aston. But it is still not enough. We still have a huge delta in terms of performance to Mercedes’ quali to race.”
His claims did not go down well with the fans. Twitterati’s were quick to slam him for his statements that contradicted Ferrari’s performance on the track.
Fans React as Frederic Vasseur’s Ferrari Makes a “Step Forward Compared to Aston Martin” statement
Ferrari began their season competing against Aston Martin for P2. But Aston Martin came out on top as strategic errors plagued Ferrari’s podium chances. At that time, Mercedes was the 4th best team. But now, even Mercedes has come to par with Aston Martin, and Ferrari is now left chasing Mercedes.
Carlos Sainz’s P5 at Barcelona was the only silver lining in Ferrari’s dismal performance. His pace ensured that both Aston Martin’s finished behind him. Vasseur had a claim to make solely based on that circumstance. And F1 fans took to Twitter to express their displeasure over the Team Principal’s ironic comments. Let’s take a look at a few of the reactions that encapsulate a Ferrari fan’s current mood.
