The Saudi Arabian GP is finally over and now the 2022 F1 calendar will move on to the next race in Australia. This season was again haunted by COVID-19 as two drivers have already been tested positive for the virus. Lando Norris jokingly accused Pierre Gasly of having the virus after the Jeddah race.

Norr’s teammate Daniel Ricciardo tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the pre-season testing in Bahrain. So, the Honey Badger had to miss the Bahrain testing. But he did return later for the Bahrain GP after recovering from the virus. But after Ricciardo, the virus haunted the four-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel. The Aston Martin driver had to miss the season opener in Bahrain and the Saudi Arabian GP this week.

After these two cases, there is a lot of precaution at the F1 paddock to avoid more COVID-19 cases. But it seems Lando Norris wanted to do make a COVID prank after the Saudi Arabian GP. Norris was giving an interview with Pierre Gasly after the Jeddah race. Subsequently, Esteban Ocon joined the interview as Gasly left and the journalist handed over the mic to Ocon. But Lando asked the journalist to clean the mic and jokingly accused Gasly of having COVID-19. Lando said, “Wipe it [mic]. Pierre touched it and he has COVID.”

 

Lando Norris critically points out the MCL36 errors

The Woking-based constructors are one of the most legendary teams in F1 history. They had been fighting for that third-place finish against Ferrari till last year. But this season things are not going according to their plans. As McLaren are struggling with the car, their rivals Ferrari are competing for the lead this time against Red Bull.

McLaren are suffering with their 2022 challenger since the pre-season. The poor performance is still haunting them even in Saudi Arabia. Although Lando Norris finished P7 after starting from P11. Meanwhile, his teammate Honey Badger had to retire because of a suspected engine failure.

But after the Jeddah race, the young Brit critically pointed out the errors in his car like how it struggles at straights and slow-speed turns. And said it only performs well at high and medium-speed tracks. Norris accepts their poor form and says, “No… the only way is not up, for us it can also be down. I love to be positive but with the slow speed, we are really bad.”

Since there are still 21 races left, McLaren have time to improve the car. Further, the next race is in Australia, which features many high-speed turns. Let’s see if Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo can bag a podium next week or not.
