AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly was dropped from Red Bull midway through the 2019 season and was replaced by Alex Albon. Unfortunately, his chances of returning to the Milton Keynes-based outfit were ruined as the team brought in Sergio Perez to partner Max Verstappen for 2021.
However, the French driver doesn’t have any fear of being stuck in a midfield team as he knows a lot of contracts will expire at the end of the 2023 season. Hence, he has hope that he will be able to sign with one of the bigger teams on the grid.

Many within the Formula One community think that Gasly’s chances of signing with a major team in F1 have gone after he was dropped from Red Bull. However, the French driver doesn’t have the same opinion, as he knows seats could open up for him as a majority of contracts expire at the end of the 2023 season.
Speaking to Auto Motor und Sport, Gasly said, “No, because the market will change. For many drivers, the contracts expire in 2023. Opportunities will open up there. Everything goes very quickly in Formula 1. I’m not worried too much. Opportunities are coming. I know that. We will see when it is the right time. At the moment, I focus on every race weekend, on my performance.”
“I’ll do my best. The best thing I can do is repeat results like in Mexico. To become fifth in the qualification – behind the Mercedes and Red Bull in a midfield car. I would certainly do better with a faster car. That’s the only thing that matters,” Gasly concluded. (Translated from German via Google)
