Sebastian Vettel finally clinched his first podium of the season at the Turkish Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel had a woeful year with Ferrari this year. He secured a podium after 7 no-point finishes. However, the German came close to a podium at Imola before a pit stop catastrophe took that away.

Vettel is a 4-time World Champion. He won these championships driving for Red Bull. He then made his move to Ferrari to realize his dream of winning a championship title with the Italian team.

Earlier this season, Vettel made a move to Racing Point for the next season. The German will drive for the rebranded team Aston Martin.

During an interview, Pierre Gasly was talking about his emotions in Brazil and Monza’s podium. He was also asked about the past and future of Formula 1. Gasly was asked to comment on the fact that Formula 1 couldn’t afford to lose Vettel.

Gasly explains why Sebastian Vettel is very important for Formula 1

Gasly explained why Sebastian Vettel is an essential figure in the Grand Prix environment. He said, “[Sebastian Vettel] is the second most successful rider on the grid.

“We know what he has achieved in Formula 1, we shouldn’t forget that he is among the 5 most successful drivers in history.”

Formula 1 is a really competitive sport. Hundreds of thousands of individuals fighting for the limited 20 seats around the grid. He said, “I think sometimes in Formula 1 people struggle to recognize the merit of successful drivers when they are still in business.

“Then when they left and their time ran out, after a while people realize, ‘Ah it was great, what he achieved is incredible’. Sometimes we struggle to see the present,” he further added.

Sebastian Vettel is one of the most experienced drivers on the grid. He keeps giving back to Formula 1 and its future. Gasly said, “I like Seb very much, he is a very intelligent person, he has always helped me and gave me valuable advice.

“I like him as a person and he is also a very talented rider, so I think he must be one of the best drivers in the world .”

After a podium, Vettel will look forward to ending the season on a high. He will also look forward to taking the momentum to 2021. The Racing Point’s engine and Sebastian’s skills could help him fight for podiums consistently come 2021.
