Pierre Gasly, like every other F1 driver, grew up with the dream to make it to the biggest stage. The Frenchman has since gone on the realize his dream. He has gone on to secure podiums and even registered an F1 victory to his name. However, it all starts with a kid who has a dream.

In a recent podcast, Gasly went on to explain how his obsession with F1 started. He was posed the question if he always believed that he would reach the pinnacle of motorsport. To this Gasly said, “I always believed that I will become a Formula 1 driver.” He went to add, “Obviously when you start it’s only a dream.” 

He reminisced about his childhood days, “I still remember these days watching Formal 1 for example with Charles in Monaco and watching Michael Schumacher and Alonso and Lewis. We were both young kinds, looking at each other, wondering it might be one of us one day or maybe none of us. Who knows?”

Gasly went on to talk about how ones journey into the motor-sporting world starts, “year after year you grow up… you do you wins, poles… it starts to become more real”. He added, “as a kid it was always a dream but I believed in my dreams” and he did go on to make that dream a reality.

The AlphaTauri driver is now one of F1’s top drivers who has written his own story in F1. Gasly has gone on and extended his stay in F1 with AlphaTauri. He recently signed a contract extension that will keep him at the team for 2023 as well.

Pierre Gasly to stay put at AlphaTauri for 2023

AlphaTauri has announced that Pierre Gasly has extended his stay with the team. The Frenchman has enjoyed three brilliant years at the team ever since his demotion from Red Bull. The team has helped him turn his career around.

Gasly went on to achieve his first-ever F1 win the team at Monza last season. He also has 2 other podiums to his name with the team. His extension comes after Sergio Perez penned a two-year extension at Red Bull which ended his chances of making the step up again.

However, Gasly was excited about this new contract and said, “I’m happy to remain with my Scuderia AlphaTauri team next season. This year’s new regulations have created new challenges for us, and being able to plan our development with the team for the next 18 months is a good working basis for the future.”

He will now be focused on the British GP, which is up next. Hopefully, his fortunes will change at Silverstone after a disappointing 2022 so far.
