Pierre Gasly is one of the bright lights of the ongoing F1 season. Since his demotion from Red Bull midway through the 2019 season, the Frenchman has been impeccable with AlphaTauri. Over the course of two seasons, Gasly has three podium finishes to his name which includes his famous win in Monza last year.
Ahead of the British Grand Prix, the 25-year-old believes the time to discuss his future with Helmut Marko is coming soon.

Despite his stunning form, Gasly is unclear when it comes to a seat in 2022. While his contract with AlphaTauri expires at the end of this season, options are running out for the Frenchman thick and fast.
Although Gasly‘s first stint with Red Bull in 2019 was a disaster, his performances since then may make him a frontrunner to return next year. However, he faces stiff competition in Sergio Perez, who is making the most of his opportunities in a championship-contending car this year.
Ahead of the British Grand Prix, Gasly admitted he hopes to talk to Red Bull advisor, Dr. Helmut Marko sooner rather than later. The Frenchman believes the Austrian is the only one who can help clarify his future in F1.
He said, “To be fair I have no idea at the moment, it’s something that we are going to talk with Red Bull and with Helmut [Marko] especially. I don’t know what’s the will of Helmut and what’s – whether they want to take me back, whether they want me to stay in AlphaTauri, whether they’re willing to release me to another team.”

Gasly: Other teams have made offers
The 25-year-old’s performances at AlphaTauri clearly make him one of the most sought after drivers on the grid. Hence, Gasly didn’t hold back in admitting other teams approached him for a seat in 2022. “Yes, [there is] interest; I’m trying my best, showing my potential, giving my best with AlphaTauri and I think what we are doing at the moment is very good,” said Gasly.

However, the Frenchman admitted his focus remains getting the best results this season. “I really hope this year we can get the best result in the team championship for the team, the best ever since the team joined in Formula 1. That’s my goal personally and then yes, we’ll see going forward what are the most attractive options that we have.
“Ultimately it goes down to Red Bull and yeah discussing with them what do we together going forward.”
