We are now a month into a chaotic F1 silly season. This season was kicked off by the news that Sebastian Vettel was retiring from the sport at the end of 2022. This led to a domino of driver announcements, amongst which lies a certain French connection. Amid the growing Alpine-McLaren contract mess, Red Bull has thrown its hat into the ring with Pierre Gasly.

Fernando Alonso was announced as Vettel’s replacement at Aston Martin from 2023 onwards. Piastri was announced at Alpine but soon after sent the whole F1 community into raptures. The Australian denied any such confirmation from his end.

Now finally, Pierre Gasly has been linked to that Alpine seat. However, the Frenchman has a valid contract with Alpha Tauri for next year, as announced by the team earlier this year.

Pierre Gasly spills the beans on his future in an inadvertent sound byte

In a video that has gone viral now, Gasly can be seen chatting up his fellow racemates. However, if we listen closely, we can hear the Gasman saying, “Still working on the final phases of the contract”. This has sent Formula 1 fans on Twitter into a frenzy.

With the seat at Alpine being contested by the likes of Schumacher, Ricciardo and Gasly, this comes as a big hint for F1 fans. It can be argued that Gasly, being French, would be a great signing for the French outfit.

Fans were also quick to troll Gasly for being this verbose about something that should’ve been a tight-lipped secret. Formula 1 driver arrangements are very secretive. Sometimes even drivers don’t know their fate until it’s actually announced. So for Gasly to be this open around microphones, has left fans in stitches.

A few really sharp fans also picked something else up. Now if this is true, then it’s big! Apparently, Russell and Gasly were chatting up about marriage. In the same clip as above, a few fans noticed how the words “marry” or “marriage” pops up. Fans were quick to draw conclusions.
