Talking about the Frenchman, Tim conveyed, “I think Pierre Gasly deserved it. Firstly, because he comes from the Red Bull pool and secondly because he has shown that he has matured, his head has become stronger. His self-confidence is back. I would just put him next to it.”

Despite having a car much slower than Red Bull or Mercedes, Pierre has shown enough character and talent in 2021. With a stellar performance, the 26-year-old driver has managed to pick 110 points and finished P9 in the driver’s standings.

Sergio Perez, on the other hand, is the second Red Bull driver now alongside Max Verstappen. The Mexican has joined the Milton Keynes-based team from Racing Point last season. With 5 podiums, the 32-year-old has managed to pick up decent 190 points and finished P4 behind Max, Lewis, and Valtteri.

Despite this performance, Perez isn’t in the good books of Tim. The 49-year-old Dutchman further stated on Sergio on this, “I expected a lot more from Perez last year, really a lot more. When did he really help? Once at the end of the season year and once somewhere in the middle of the season. Other than that, he’s never been around at all.”

Pierre Gasly was Max Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull in 2019. Just after just 12 races, the Frenchman was replaced by Alex Albon as he failed to meet the team’s expectations. Albon continued to be Verstappen’s teammate until the Austrian team signed Sergio Perez last season. Perez has a contract with Red Bull till the end of 2022.
