The 2019 season was undeniably a rough ride for Pierre Gasly, having secured his much-earned Red Bull seat alongside Max Verstappen only to lose it halfway into the season. The Frenchman hardly ever challenged the top-runners, let alone his own teammate.
Hence, Red Bull had to take the big step of replacing Gasly with Alex Albon during the summer break, as the former’s future in F1 substantially diminished. However, only a few race weekends later, Gasly found himself standing on the podium alongside Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton (later penalized) in a much-inferior Toro Rosso (now, AlphaTauri).
And his glory days began yet again from thereon! Fast-forward to 2020, Gasly won his first-ever Grand Prix in Monza with AlphaTauri followed by a series of podiums; the latest arriving from Baku 2021. So, amidst such a promising stint with the sister outfit, is there a way back to Red Bull for Gasly?

What did Pierre Gasly say about his Red Bull F1 future?
The AlphaTauri driver openly confessed that he is longing to race alongside Verstappen to prove his worth as a competitor. “As long as I’m under a Red Bull contract, racing for them will always be my primary goal because it’s clearly my goal to win races and fight for a title,” he said.

“And they have one of the best cars, if not the best car on the field. So, it’s definitely a goal to go back there. But, of course, in conditions that allow me to perform.
“I am a competitor and I wake up every morning with the aim of improving myself to win Grand Prix, but Formula 1 is above all a team sport. We must create a collective strength and a common desire to give 110%. That’s what they do very well with Max. They are capable of it. On both sides, we learned from the 2019 experience which had not been positive. Things have evolved a lot since then and I’m sure it could work out.”

Overall, Gasly seems well assured that he could take on Verstappen this time after the one-sided affair in 2019. So, will Red Bull replace Sergio Perez with the French ace as early as next season? Well, only time will tell.
