Enzo Ferrari once said: “If you can dream, you can do it.” The founder of the Scuderia Ferrari F1 racing team’s legacy is incomparable. His only living son, Piero Ferrari, aspires to hold on to the dreams of his father in the world of motorsport.

Ferrari is a giant in motorsport. The most successful team whose achievements are second to none. But as per Piero Ferrari, there is a lot more yet to be achieved by the Prancing Horses!

The motorsport giants added another feather to their hat recently. After 90 years of waiting, Ferrari finally bagged two consecutive wins in two different formats of motorsport. First, Charles Leclerc‘s glorious win in Monaco, followed by the win at Le Mans in Circuit de la Sarthe. These consecutive wins have rekindled the unfulfilled dream of the late Enzo Ferrari. The dream now transferred to Piero Ferrari who hopes to see his father’s wishes come true.

Piero dreams of the Indy 500. In a recent conversation with QNMotori, Piero talked about his desire to see a beautiful Ferrari in the 500 Miglia. That was his father’s dream too. The Indy 500 or Indianapolis 500 is the oldest racing event operating in its 108th year currently. Ferrari said: “My father often thought about it, but apart from an unfortunate attempt with Ciccio Ascari in the early 50’s, nothing came of it. But, who knows.”

Back in 1952, Scuderia Ferrari had decided to launch two 4500 open-wheel cars that would be driven by Alberto Ascari and Nino Farina- but the outcomes weren’t fruitful. The trophy cabinet at Maranello only lacks a win from the Indy 500. Coming so close to achieving the ‘Triple Crown’ of motorsport motivated Piero Ferrari to give the Indy 500 another chance. This time, he hopes to see positive results.

Piero Ferrari adds ‘Triple Crown’ to his to-do list for the future

F1 journalist Leo Turrini asked Piero if he knew the last time the same car manufacturer won both the Formula One Monte Carlo Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the same year was in 1934.

“They told me, and I have a dream,” Ferrari replied. “In racing, there’s something called the Triple Crown.” He expressed his wish for Ferrari to achieve the ‘Triple Crown’ of motorsport. A team achieves the Triple Crown only when it wins the Indianapolis 500, Le Mans, and Formula 1 in a single year. These three events are the pinnacle of motorsport prestige.

The ‘Triple Crown’ is an unofficial title without trophies or awards. Despite being an unofficial title, the ‘Triple Crown’ is a very special feat for any team to achieve.I told you, it’s a dream. There are no technical conditions to make it happen. But I think about it sometimes, being old doesn’t mean losing imagination!” said Piero Ferrari. Further into the conversation, the 79-year-old talked about Ferrari’s Le Mans win and the victory at Monte Carlo. “I know [Antonio] Fuoco a bit better because he’s Italian and has a house near Maranello. I’m very happy for him, he’s a guy driven by an extraordinary passion,” the 79-year-old said.
