“This has to stop. These false accusations by certain individuals on Instagram and TikTok are insane and ridiculous at the same time. Hate has no place in this world. We know what’s true within our family and we are very happy together. I love you,” commented Max Verstappen below an emotional appeal made by GF Kelly Piquet. The appeal was made to fans and followers to not spread fake news and hatred. However, her message wasn’t received well and the hate just doubled down. Let us take a look at what happened.

Why did Kelly Piquet make a heartfelt appeal against online hate?

The Brazilian model has become a target of social media trolls, who have sprouted accusations and fake news, even “photoshopped screenshots” in their attacks. In her emotional Instagram post, Piquet expressed her distress over the false accusations and rumors that have been circulating about her. She described how these fabrications have been bothering her and can have an impact on an individual.

Transcript of the note by Ms. Piquet: “A note from me and a gentle reminder to all… The online world can be a wonderful place for various reasons, but a very scary one when wrong information and lies are thrown around. For over three years, I’ve been navigating a very strange and upsetting wave of accusations, rumors, fabricated situations, fake testimonials, photoshopped screenshots…you name it. All the while staying silent and not playing into these ridiculous claims.”

“Accusations made in the past months especially have taken on another level of defamation. Those who know me know that I would never put myself in such positions, say certain things, or act in such a way. I am far from perfect, but I do take pride in my values, morals, and manners. Let’s be clear, as a human being, the comments and hate affect me and the people around me deeply. I hope this serves as a reminder for people to verify online content before making threats. Remember, as James Clear says, ‘every action we take is a vote for who we want to be’. Let’s choose to be better humans to ourselves and others,” concluded Kelly Piquet’s post.

But why did she have to use her million users’ worth of followers to appeal?

Why does Kelly Piquet get all the hate?

In the most recent controversy, the ex-wife of former Formula One driver Jerome D’Ambrosio accused her of trying to break up her marriage. This shocking allegation fueled the online hate, making her publicly defend herself. However, this isn’t the first time she has been accused of such an act. Earlier, there were also rumors of breaking her now-boyfriend Max Verstappen’s previous relationship as well as cheating on her previous partner Russian driver Daniil Kvyat (who also happened to be a Red Bull driver).

So with the long history of judgment against her, when she asked people to not spread hate, they nitpicked her messages and pictures to accuse her even more. They accused her of typing the support message from Verstappen’s phone, as he was busy with online gaming at that time. She also got trolled for lifting images from Pinterest to post on her account. ‘Historically’, she has also been trolled because of her 9-year age gap with Verstappen and that she dated Daniil when he was at Red Bull and later began dating Max when the Dutch driver replaced the Russian driver.

Important Note- The couple has been dating for 3 years and has a sweet little family, including Kelly’s daughter (a big fan of ‘Maxie’) and his two cats. They live together in Monaco and the Brazilian model is also seen traveling with her beau when she isn’t dazzling the fashion world at the biggest stages. To add to that, the lovebirds also spend considerable time with each other’s families. This summary of their relationship has been mentioned to address the fact that when we begin giving our opinions on public figures, we often tend to forget that they are human beings and can suffer due to this brutal media trial. As F1 fans, we should also pledge to not spread hate, abuse, and trolling for the betterment of our society.
