Ferrari’s turnaround from a sinking ship to a rocket in 2022 and back to a sinking ship in 2023 has been disheartening to see for all the fans of F1. With the latter part of it happening under Frederic Vasseur’s management, the Frenchman has come under scrutiny from the Tifosi as the lack of strong results and progress has started to haunt the fans. While many of them are already asking for drastic change, recent statements from the concerned stakeholders show the top management’s unwavering trust in Frederic Vasseur.

This comes from the understanding that nothing in Formula 1 can be built up in months. Keeping that in mind, Ferrari appointed Frederic Vasseur. Those sitting in Maranello have entrusted the team principal with the responsibility and backing. With a good resume and things under control in the garage, fans believed the Frenchman to be the right fit to lead Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.

Talking about Fred’s challenging time, Italian journalist Roberto Chinchero shared his insights. Reflecting upon the appointment, Chinchero, on the F1 Nation podcast, said, “So it’s not easy for Fred to manage this situation. But he’s the right person because he doesn’t need to prove anything. It’s his challenge. From this point of view, I think he’s a more solid person compared to others. He accepts this challenge. He’s tough. But at the same time, I think that it’s not the story of his life in this challenge with Ferrari. So I think he should be good in the long term.”

“I think. Yes. He was chosen by John Elkann. It’s a personal decision of the president. And this helps a lot in the Ferrari issue. A lot,” he added when asked if Vasseur is relaxed and has reassurances from the management.

All this also instills some trust in the fans of the team as they continue to look for answers. With things having gone downhill in recent times, Vasseur, if not senior management, will still have questions to deal with.

As quoted by Formula 1, the Monegasque backed his boss, saying, “So yeah, I think the big part of the job will be done from now on – so we will see. Obviously, I speak a lot with Fred and I know what are his middle and long-term plans for the team, and I’m completely behind him and I trust him fully.”
