The last couple of F1 races at Silverstone and Hungaroring ended up keeping the stewards on the toes, with both the events offering a significant number of on-track incidents. While it was Lewis Hamilton who had penalty points imposed on his head at Silverstone, it was Valtteri Bottas and Lance Stroll in Hungary.

Hence, there has been a lot of movement in the penalty points table, with Stroll and Bottas moving up the order. So, let’s take a look at how the drivers stand with respect to penalty points.

Drivers in danger of a race ban

The biggest of all is undeniably Lando Norris, whose number stands at 8. However, the good news is that he will lose a point at the Belgian Grand Prix, bringing his tally down to 7. Nevertheless, it is still a risky position to be in and the Briton is possibly only an incident or two away from missing out on a Grand Prix.

Behind the McLaren driver are Nicholas Latifi and Aston Martin duo, Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll, with 6 penalty points each.

Stroll gained 2 points following his incident in Hungary. The Canadian crashed into Charles Leclerc, who subsequently collided with Daniel Ricciardo, ultimately causing a mess around turn 1.

Other F1 drivers with penalty points

Kimi Raikkonen and rookie, Nikita Mazepin, are carrying 5 penalty points each over their head. The latter could be in trouble, considering he earned all 5 of them this season. Hence, the Russian will have to be cautious on the track until the end of this season to avoid serious consequences.

Bottas, Hamilton, Giovinazzi, Tsunoda, and Russell come under-4 points category, which is quite safe at the moment. Behind the five drivers is Charles Leclerc with 2 points. Then arrive the drivers with a measly 1 point – Ricciardo, Carlos Sainz, and Pierre Gasly.

Only 4 drivers are free of penalty points, Fernando Alonso, Max Verstappen, Mick Schumacher, and Esteban Ocon. The Alpine driver’s only penalty point expired on August 8, leaving him with a clean sheet.
