Jean Todt arrived at Ferrari and changed the face of the team and sport forever, yes obviously with the help of mighty Michael Schumacher. Todt set a benchmark and now Frederic Vasseur is at the receiving end of the game with persistent comparisons. However, the question is, is Charles Leclerc Fred’s Schumacher? If yes, then what is Vasseur doing to reduce the ever-increasing challenges at Maranello?
A few days ago, Leclerc had nudged the media to ask Fredric Vasseur when he plans to start the discussion to negotiate. And this comes in the midst of piling performance pressure on Vasseur. He was brought in with the hope that he will turn things around, but now he is left struggling with a car he didn’t help develop and a hot property Leclerc who is waiting for a renewal.
As quoted by Formula Passion, Italian racing driver Ivan Capelli said, “He is a man of experience. But this is not an F1 team. It’s Ferrari. He realizes that he’s in a dimension beyond and he’s paying a bit of the price. And he finds himself a car that conceptually does not belong to him. Comparisons are often made with Todt, who took the Ferrari and turned it over. But he didn’t arrive alone. He brought a group of technicians with him. Vasseur arrived with his briefcase and that was it. F1 cannot be invented. It must be programmed, experienced, and managed.”

If there is one place Charles Leclerc has been the unluckiest in, it is home. The first Monegasque driver time and again gets struck by bad luck and hasn’t won the most iconic GP despite being in contention many times. And now it is on Fred Vasseur to handle it.
Peter Windsor in his YouTube live stream said, “I will be fascinated to see how Charles and Freddie Vasseur go into Monaco and how they handle Monaco. Because regardless of how bad the Ferrari is – or good or mediocre it is – Charles will be quick around Monaco. The question is, stopping him hitting anything and getting him on the pole and obviously winning the race. Part of that is Freddie’s responsibility, in my view”.
