“Did I leave the magic on?” said a distraught Lewis Hamilton when he locked up at the last lap restart and that race saw Sergio Perez take home the win. Streets of Azerbaijan never disappoint the viewers, as the most eventful race weekend on the calendar always gives us something or the other to reminisce. A few weeks ago, Christian Horner spoke against the organization of a sprint race in Baku and now the DTS star, Guenther Steiner, has given him a fitting reply.
Back in 2018, the Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo crashed into each other, costing the team almost a million dollars. The nightmare for Horner probably comes alive every time we go racing in Azerbaijan. This is the reason why Red Bull TP called the Sprint weekend in Baku a ludicrous choice. However, as pointed out by Guenther, the man clearly forgot his developmental privilege, considering Milton Keynes has taken three of three wins so far.
In the Unlapped The ESPN F1 Show Podcast, Haas TP was asked about Horner’s comment and the fact that the American team is worried about a big repair bill coming their way. To which he replied, “I think we’re all a little bit concerned but that gives an excitement to the sport as well again, and it is done. Everyone is having the same risk.”

“I always say nobody is thinking out there and Christian actually is in a good place because normally his cars start in the front so his risk is less that his car gets involved in an accident. It is more us guys. But it is part of the sport and we cannot always predict anything negative to a single team happening.”
While on one hand, Steiner has called out the privilege of Milton Keynes, on the other he hasn’t discounted the fact that the team reached this stage because of their handwork.
Guenther Steiner believes Red Bull shouldn’t be slowed down for entertainment.

With only a few races in, Red Bull dominance may seem boring to some and to keep the viewers’ interest alive, a closed bunched grid looks better from an entertainment perspective. However, the Haas TP has stated that Red Bull’s developmental masterclass should be rewarded and not penalized. As quoted by Motorsport, Steiner said, “The sport is the main thing we have to have. The show is secondary,” he said, stating what the priority should be.
He further added, “Obviously, at the moment, Red Bull has an advantage, but I wouldn’t say they’ll keep that advantage now for the next 20 races. I’m not so sure about that because everybody will catch up, and hopefully we find out how Red Bull came to this advantage and we can copy it, or do something similar.”
