Charles Leclerc was recently asked who his favorite music artists were, as the Monegasque has started a musical journey of his own. Amid the multiple names, Hans Zimmer was one of them. The two-time Oscar winner has now set up a special gift for the F1 fans that he’ll be presenting at the Austrian GP this year, in collaboration with drummer Martin Grubinger. But what is the special gift?
Hans Zimmer isn’t a name that is new to the F1 fans. Zimmer is the artist responsible for the production of most of the songs for the F1-themed movie Rush. The German did a great job of encapsulating the emotions of F1 in the Rush album. And even the titles of the song define what F1 really is like. Examples are “Lost but Won ” and “My Best Enemy”. And now Zimmer has taken up a new F1 project that is already in the works.
Every year at the Red Bull Ring, the national anthem is performed in front of the grid and drivers. Hans Zimmer and Martin Grubinger have come up with a band version of the National Anthem and will be presenting it at the 2024 Austrian GP alongside fans. Using the MyGroove App, fans can learn the special version of the anthem on their choice of instrument and can then apply for a place to be one of the 50 fans in the band.

According to OE24, talking about the opportunity, Martin Grubinger said, “For hobby musicians, this is a huge opportunity. Playing our national anthem on the screen on the start-to-finish straight in front of more than 100,000 F1 fans at the Red Bull Ring and a worldwide audience of millions on the screen is a unique moment that will not be forgotten for a lifetime. Participating is totally easy. I would be happy if participants took a musical instrument into their hands for the first time thanks to this challenge.”
All the details for the same can be found on the Redbullring.com website. The fans just need to record a video of themselves playing or singing the anthem and upload the same on the app as an application.

It doesn’t matter whether the fan is a newbie or a veteran musician. Anyone and everyone can apply for a place in the band, presenting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to many. Hans Zimmer is fascinated by how the challenge is inviting anyone to become a musician on a huge stage in front of 100,000 fans. The German also talked about the inspiration behind the special version of the Nation Anthem, and how it has a rock n roll tone to it.
Hans Zimmer, while talking about the revised version of the National Anthem, said, “I tried with my reinterpretation to honor the Austrian anthem – and still give it a new tone. It will become a little more rock ‘n’ roll, a little more electronic, and a little more ‘dangerous’. What particularly fascinates me about the ‘The Anthem of Your Life’ challenge is exactly what fascinates me about music: Invite everyone to participate and also to become a musician, even if it’s only for one day,”
