Last weekend at the Brazilian Grand Prix, a series of events unraveled that made it one of the most memorable races of the season. Mercedes’ George Russell bagged his first official F1 win that secured the Silver Arrows a win for the season as well. All in all, a very impressive debut season for Mr. Saturday.
With the Silver Arrows fretting over their winless season, George Russell came to their rescue with an unexpected victory. As Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff revealed, there was even a leak in George’s car that drained a lot of his water. However, nothing could stand in the young Brit’s way!

With this tremendous win, Russell is the new talk of the town in F1. However, none of it was shocking to Toto Wolff. Why, you may ask? In a recent interview, the team boss looked back at a time when Niki Lauda, the late three-time F1 champion, had come down for a Formula 3 race in the junior series where George was racing.
Toto Wolff fondly looked back at the memory as he said, “George’s win in F3 was the only podium Niki [Lauda] ever visited in a junior series. And he said back to me, ‘he’s gonna become a good one.'”
Many Russell fans wished if the legend was still around to see the young Russell finally get his F1 win. He sure was right. Mr. Consistency is, in fact, becoming a good one, most would say.
As Russell got the much-needed win for the Silver Arrows this year, many speculated that Lewis Hamilton would have a tough time in the coming season with his teammate. But Lewis confirmed their relationship would not ‘be a problem.’

As per Sky Sports, Hamilton shared his take on the subject. He said, “I’m a lot older and I’ve been with the team so long. So managing whatever challenges we come up with moving forward, we’ve been through so much that I don’t think it’s going to be a problem.”
“I think naturally you have to say it’s impressive what he’s done this year, the consistency he’s had, how he’s arrived and just hit the ground running,” he further added, about George.
