Ferrari entered the 2023 season with high hopes and expectations once the SF-23 showed great promise on the simulator. However, the simulator data was far from reality, and Ferrari got a hard reality check during the first testing. To avoid repeating the embarrassment of the 2023 season, the Italian team is already in the Maranello office, just nine days into the winter break, putting Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz back to work before they take a break.

The two Ferrari men are putting in the hours already by testing the 2024 challenger. That’s right, the Italian team’s 2024 F1 challenger is virtually ready to be tested. By that, we mean Leclerc and Sainz will be putting in some laps on the simulator with the 2024 challenger’s specs.

Ferrari has not seen championship-winning silverware since the 2008 season and has not even been close in the recent past. It took a step back from its 2022 season’s results by finishing third in the Constructor’s Championship. These continued disappointing results have led to much criticism from not just the Tifosi but also the ruthless Italian media. This is precisely why the team is back to work in Maranello to get a jump start on things for 2024.

According to a report by Formu1a.uno, as seen on X, both Leclerc and Sainz are testing the 2024 car on the simulator to give their valuable feedback. The feedback will help in the development of the car as the Italian outfit will look to improve the 2024’s predecessor in all aspects. This is an important step taken by Ferrari to enter the new season much more competitive than the last and hopefully challenge for the title, which many believed was not possible in 2023.

These actions are necessary to get some faith back in Ferrari’s F1 campaigns, faith which the team lost in the last couple of seasons with no one else to blame but themselves. Additionally, these actions are also in line with Leclerc’s vision for 2024.

The Monegasque entered the 2023 season as the second favorite to win the championship, but Ferrari’s SF-23 was worse off than originally thought. Despite the massive points gap in the championship standings, Charles Leclerc remained hopeful. However, apart from being hopeful, a realistic side of him set goals and a high bar for 2024 as well.

Speaking to the media earlier this year, Leclerc revealed, “I think we have a very clear vision of where we need to work. We have new pieces that we will work on in the rest of the season, and then we will be fully focused on 2024, where we hope to have a car that allows us to win races and the championship.”
