The United States GP did not fail in providing fans with entertainment. There was drama, there was racing and there were mistakes. But for a race so good, fans spotted some things that stuck out during the Red Bull victory. They had a surprise chequered flag bearer in Tim Cook.
The race on Sunday provided all the possible permutations and combinations that can be served up in a race. It started with Carlos Sainz crashing out of the race in the very first turn having qualified pole. Max Verstappen and Red Bull then seemed to have taken comfortable control of the proceedings.

Verstappen led for a long time before a blunder with the wheel gun caused an extremely long pitstop. He ended up being pushed down the pecking order and had to chase Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton. In commandeering and aggressive fashion, what he is known for, Verstappen snatched back what he believed was his.
A number of records were under pressure from the results at Austin. As a result of their P1 and P4, Red Bull was officially crowned World Constructor’s Championship winners, having now accumulated an unassailable lead over their rivals. Lewis could finally have broken his race-win drought but he couldn’t.
That meant that Mad Max managed to rack up yet another victory, taking his grand total to 13 for the season. He now shares the record with Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel for the most race wins in a season. Another victory and he will leapfrog two legends of F1 and create a niche for himself.

All in all, the race did not leave anybody unsatisfied. It provided enough twists and turns in the story to keep everyone interested till the chequered flag. The criticisms started after the flag.
F1 Twitter lost it when they saw Tim Cook waving the chequered flag
Apple CEO was the guest of honor at the GP in Austin on Sunday evening. The 61-year-old was also bestowed with the opportunity to wave the chequered flag at the end of the race. But fans took offense to the uninterested nature of the flag-waving from Cook. Their anger has come out in tweets like these.

What is this waving flag? No effort whatsoever.
Give an F1 fan this opportunity and they would be waving the flag like there is no tomorrow.#F1 #USGP #TimCook pic.twitter.com/Ti0qMYtDMs

TIM COOK: Yes, absolutely.

In defense of the tycoon, it’s not every weekend that he waves a race to an end. But then again, it’s Twitter – there always will be someone supporting you and someone against you.
