Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton have been an inseparable duo since the Brit joined Mercedes a decade ago in 2013. And the partnership has been a successful one at that. When Wolff bought into the team in 2013, Hamilton came to Brackley with his proven potential. Since then, they’ve taken Formula 1 to a new level and changed it for the better. Owing to the eight successive Constructors’ Championships Mercedes achieved from 2014 to 2021, Wolff’s collaboration with Hamilton and Mercedes has paid dividends, and he is now worth more than $1 billion. Given how good the duo is together, Hamilton brought on his team boss on another highly anticipated F1-related venture.

About a year ago, Hollywood star Brad Pitt announced a $140 million F1-inspired movie he’d be making in collaboration with Lewis Hamilton and his production company, Dawn Apollo Films. The film—which will star a few Hollywood A-listers, with Pitt playing the starring role—follows the plot of a driver who comes out of retirement to mentor his young, rookie teammate. The film’s name wasn’t publicized until recently, revealed right before the British GP weekend, during which Pitt commenced the filming of Apex.

After the Silverstone weekend, Wolff and Hamilton appeared in an interview with Sky Germany, where Toto revealed surprising information regarding his role in the film. Wolff is no stranger to the camera, one of the stars of Netflix’s Drive to Survive. But this time, he’ll be behind it. As quoted by si.com, Toto Wolff said, “Yes, I’m also a co-producer.” Considering Hamilton was the primary producer, he decided to bring Wolff into the venture, too, given their past successes.

Wolff added, “Penny, Lewis’s manager, made me one, and of course, we helped the team with the car.” Pitt’s car in the film is an F2-turned-F1 car, which, according to Wolff, Mercedes helped set up. Like every other venture Wolff and Hamilton have dabbled into together, this is another one fans are eager for. And while Brad Pitt and Hamilton brought on Wolff behind the camera, the Hollywood star promised another F1 figure some screen time in the film.

Brad Pitt reconciles with Martin Brundle

Former F1 driver turned pundit Martin Brundle is one of the voices of F1. As a compere for Sky Sports, he does his customary grid walk before every race, which involves him going up and down the track, interviewing drivers and celebrities. At the US GP last year—after Pitt announced the film—Brundle approached him to talk about the film. But Pitt refused to give away anything, snubbed him, and walked away.

But this time around, at the British GP, in an interview with Sky Sports, Pitt revealed a few details of the film and gave Brundle an opportunity of a lifetime. While talking about the plot, he said, “I would be a guy who raced in the 90s…in fact, I would’ve been on the track with you at some point. So you’ve got to do a cameo!” With Brundle making a cameo and Toto Wolff on board, the film won’t just involve Hollywood A-listers. It’ll involve F1 A-listers as well!
