Mattia Binotto has been under the spotlight for much of the season. Ferrari rolled out a competitive car at the start of the season. They looked set to challenge Red Bull and Max Verstappen for the title and even got off to a flyer with Charles Leclerc winning 2 of the opening 3 races.
However, their title charge was quickly cut short by Red Bulls’ brilliance and Ferrari’s own wrongdoings. Moreover, with reports of Binotto parting ways with the Reds, let’s look at what the Italian had to say about his role in 2019.
The Ferrari boss said, “To be team principal was never an ambition. It’s not something that in my time with Ferrari I was looking for. It was not the final goal. It was not an objective.”
He further said, “If there is any feeling toward the lack of success it’s simply unhappiness for the team itself and for our drivers, and not because that makes life more complicated from the pressure point of view.”
Mattia Binotto took over the team principal role in 2019 as he replaced Maurizio Arrivabene.
