“I have to perform well and show that I’m ready to win the F1,” said Oliver Bearman when asked about his chances to fill outgoing Nico Hulkenberg’s empty seat at Haas. The 18-year-old driver who stunned the world with his stellar performance at the 2024 Saudi Arabian GP will be driving the FP1 session tomorrow.
This will be his opportunity to prove his worth once again and secure a chance for his Formula 1 dream. All eyes are on him, right? But that might not be entirely true, as many spotted his father and drew a comparison with Max Verstappen‘s father.
Ollie Bearman’s father went viral due to his candid reactions during his son’s contract activities (steering the car in the closest possible way to the wall). And now, a few weeks later, David Bearman, who has entered the list of track dads, was seen walking into the Imola paddock alongside his son. Though they are a very good-looking duo, the father’s look became a topic of discussion on the internet.

F1’s top photographer, Kym Illman, posted a picture of the duo. The father and son can be seen wearing simple black sweatshirts and walking down the paddock. But interestingly, David bears an uncanny resemblance to Max Verstappen’s father, Jos. This shock similarity has sent fans into a frenzy.

Fans were left distraught after the comparison, saying Oliver Bearman’s father didn’t deserve it
Jos Verstappen is famous for his strict nature. Although Max has often described his father’s harsh and unforgiving ways of teaching him the best moves and outstanding on-track skills, the result of those ways is in front of our eyes as the absolute beast, Max Verstappen, is dominating the sport like no other. But Jos’ ways haven’t sat well with a lot of F1 viewers who didn’t enjoy the Jos-David comparison.
One X (formerly Twitter) user stated that it wasn’t a fair comparison, or perhaps they meant “mean” in a drop-dead gorgeous way: “Some people are just mean like that”

Another one agreed with the unfair comparison, stating there is no similarity except their son’s occupation: “He’s right, they’re very different individuals. The only similarity is both their sons are race drivers and have driven in f1.”
A fan even made a joke about Jos’ harsh lesson to Max Verstappen’s second place, after which the 14-year-old Dutch Lion was left at a gas station: “Is Ollie’s mum ok? Should we go and look for Ollie at Italian gas stations?”

Adding to the comment on the main post, which said David “wasn’t too impressed with the comparison,” a user wrote that it was obvious why he wasn’t: “Who would be?”
Do you think it was a fair comparison?
