Everyone is a Fernando Alonso fan. Even if they say they aren’t, they are Alonso fans. While we may have nicked Sebastian Vettel’s Ferrari line, the Nando fan base parallel stands. And the man who didn’t shy away from putting his Renault on the outside of 130R of Suzuka to overtake the mighty Michael Schumacher is still going strong at 41. Ultimately, the man whose brain works better than a computer mid-race has now found another admirer.
If in terms of honesty, we have to draw a parallel with Fernando Alonso, Guenther Steiner will fit the bill. From dissing Lewis Hamilton saying he cannot always win to tearing apart an under-confident Mick Schumacher, the Haas TP spits harsh truths like Nando. Now, the man has come out to bow down to the $270 million dollar worth man who he thinks is the benchmark for the sport.
As quoted by AS.com, Steiner said, “Fernando Alonso is older than God and gives 100% every week. He is the benchmark—Even in a shitty situation, he will extract something good and push his team to improve. Sometimes a bit grumpy, but a talisman—And he doesn’t have to do this because he must have thousands of euros in the bank. He could go and live on an island anywhere.”

While Guenther is all praises for Alonso, probably singing “Ooo Fernando Alonso!” with the Aston Martin crowd, he still is not Team Hamilton.
Guenther Steiner snubs Lewis Hamilton to favor Fernando Alonso
Steiner had gone on record to say that if you won eight times, it doesn’t guarantee that you’ll do it the ninth time dissing Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes. And to add to the dislike, he even went on to say he wouldn’t have someone like Hamilton in his team because, wait for it, he is 40 years old. This statement is in pure contrast with his Alonso fanboying, yet he had made it a few weeks ago.

Speaking on the Sky Sports F1 podcast, Steiner told, “I think it will be controversial. But I can be open about it because they are not coming to drive for me anyway! That’s solved that problem of the controversy. I think it would be Max for sure. And either Charles [Leclerc] or George Russell.”
“I wouldn’t say, Lewis,” he added. “Because he’s getting on with age but there is another one which he is very good. This is Fernando. I mean, the guy is over 40, and, man, he knows how to drive.”
