‘Not the Montreal I Know’: Lewis Hamilton Left With a Sour Taste Amid Mercedes F1 Struggles

Lewis Hamilton believes the W13 will not be a pleasant ride in Montreal! After severe porpoising the entire season, Mercedes has not really presented their best front forward. Hamilton and George Russell have had to push the car and their physical selves to the very limits to finish among the points.

Hamilton, specifically, has not really felt his best in the car. Be it the setup changes or the bouncing, the seven-time world champion has seen some blood-curdling moments in his career this year. In Saudi, the Briton was out in Q1 for the first time in many years. Above all, he has won no race since taking the flag at the inaugural Saudi Arabia GP and has been on just two podiums since then!

Arguably, Sir Hamilton has sometimes clearly expressed that he lacks confidence in the car. While he tries to stay positive, he revealed something brutal now, “One touch of the kerb and the thing goes flying, it’s so stiff. Here you need to be able to use the kerbs, so it’s very tricky. It’s not the Montreal that I know, am used to and have experienced through my career. “

“It’s the worst I’ve ever felt in a car here. I’m hoping overnight we can try and make some changes, but it’s the fundamentals of the car. It is what it is and it’s going to be a struggle.”

The former world champion won his first race in Montreal in his rookie season (2007). Hamilton then went on to take six more wins in the country, making this track all the more special. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem as though he will secure an eighth win in Canada in 2022.

Lewis Hamilton faces disappointing practice sessions

Practice sessions till now have been a warning for another Silver Arrows disaster. Neither Russell nor Hamilton have rounded out into the top 5 once. The 37-year-old Brit seemed to struggle more with the setup as he landed P13 in FP2. But could these changes be a step back from the last race?

They admitted to pushing the package a fair bit too much in Baku. This resulted in apparent terrible back pain for Hamilton and also put him in doubt for Canada. If they’ve taken a step back, it clearly reflects in the results for team Silver Arrows. So can they manage a podium here, or another definite disappointing race awaits Mercedes fans?
