Max Verstappen is adding trophies after trophies to his cabinet. Laureus recently awarded Max the World Sportsman of the Year award. His incredible world championship title-winning run in the 2021 season earned him the title.

Previous winners have also included the likes of Lewis Hamilton. Max’s direct competition for last season’s title. But the fact Max pipped Lewis in the world championship earned him the Laureus award as well.

Max Verstappen answers burning questions

Laureus academy caught hold of the world champion after the race at Imola to ask him a few questions. Just to get a closer look at Max’s personal life and who he is as a person. The Red Bull man answered these personal questions for Laureus, but a few caught our attention.

Let’s talk about his sporting hero, which is no one! Max explains he has always looked up to his father, a former racing driver himself. But never had a sporting hero or an idol in his life. Only an example and someone he looked up to, Jos Verstappen!

Elaborating on the same, he said, “I find that really difficult to choose because you can easily say the F1 world championship is definitely a very big highlight. But I think before that my main highlight was actually winning the go-karting world championship because that’s something I really wanted to achieve before I moved to cars.”

The dutchman is also a football enthusiast and enjoys watching the Premier League and the Champions League. However, he supports Barcelona and PSV Eindhoven from his home league.

Although, it’s interesting to read how winning the go-karting championship for Max was a highlight.

Verstappen answered a few more questions like his favorite track, which is Spa for the Belgium Grand Prix. Summed up his relationship with Red Bull as “my second family”.
