It is no secret that this year’s F1 season was filled with drama. And it was Red Bull who often than not found themself in the thick of it. The Max Verstappen-Sergio Perez battle that took place at Interlagos led to innumerable controversies. Max faced backlash and hate for the way things turned out, even from his own teammate, Sergio Perez.

At the Brazilian Grand Prix, Red Bull’s golden boy, Max Verstappen, had orders to let Sergio Perez switch positions with him. However, Max did not comply. This created a downward spiral for the Dutchman in the F1 media. Sergio Perez himself was taken aback by all of this. On the team radio, Sergio even accused Max saying, “Shows who he really is”. Sergio’s father, Antonio Perez, was just as irked.
Recently, Perez’s father gave insights on the situation and his way forward in an interview with esto.com. Antonio said, “Checo will be at Red Bull for the next two years and everything that happened is a matter for the teammates. They both want to succeed, they want to win, there are no bad intentions.”
“Now we don’t want a third place. We want pure first places, so I think the best of Checo Perez is coming and we must enjoy it.”
“He has to try to win all the races, all the pole positions, and try to be in front of all the competitions. It’s a competition for both of them, not just for one,” he said, in conclusion.

Furthermore, Antonio sheds light on what it was like for Checo in the current season.
Sergio Perez’s father believes that Checo will be bringing his best next year
As the season has come to an end, Sergio’s father, Antonio, believes that his son has a lot going for him. He will be driving to his complete potential next year and will put up a fair fight. Looking back at the current season, Antonio shared Checo’s journey.
He said, “It hurts us a lot that he did not finish in second place, but for Red Bull it was everything in the campaign. They had the Drivers’ World Championship, the Constructors’ World Championship and wanted 1-2 in Drivers’ which would have been historic.”

“For the team, it also hurt them a lot not to have achieved 1-2.”
Antonio believes that Checo has things in his control now. It is his call to go after what he truly wants: the world title. He believes his son will have to stay focused and work unrelentingly.
In conclusion, he said, “Now the ball is on his side, he has to prepare, work, concentrate to be the best. Today he is number three in the world. His next step is to be number one.”
