There were so many breathtaking moments in the 2021 season. The season was filled with excitement, intrigue, and drama between the rivals Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. One of the most highly talked about moments of the season came in at the 2021 Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

When Hamilton was about to pass his title rival on the track in the dying moments of the race, the Red Bull driver pushed him wide at Turn 4. With this move, Verstappen did not earn himself many fans on the track but he maintained it was hard racing. When he was asked about the same by Ted Kravitz of Sky Sports, the Dutch driver gave an uncompromising response.

“Listen, if it was the other way around in Brazil, it would exactly be played out like that. It’s hard racing. We are fighting for a championship, you know we are not here to be in kindergarten. That’s how it should be,” claimed Verstappen.

After the end of the race, the Dutch driver revealed that he knew it would be a tough battle against Hamilton and Mercedes.

The Red Bull driver did not have an inherent pace in the car despite leading the race for more than two-thirds. But he had called the battle against his championship rival Hamilton ‘fun’.

” At least it was a fun race, of course. I would have liked to have won, but realistically I think this was a good result. Lewis and I were fighting for position on multiple occasions. I think it was hard racing but good racing and that’s how it should be. I was hoping for a little bit more performance, but this result is definitely the maximum we could do,” said the Red Bull driver.

Many people in the motorsport world even called his defense against Hamilton a professional foul. But it is interesting to see that the Red Bull driver did not see it that way and defenses his racing. But it is hard to disagree and mention that Verstappen might have pushed the racing limits a bit too far in Brazil.
