Both of them were expected to propel Ferrari to a constructors’ championship. However, the story is far from ideal, as both Ferrari and Carlos Sainz failed to deliver on the promises made by them. 

Carlos Sainz finished only 5.5 points ahead of his Monegasque teammate in a challenging 2021 season. However, his teammate crushed the Spaniard badly in 2022. Despite suffering from reliability and strategy problems, Leclerc finished 62 ahead of Sainz. The struggles continue in 2023, where Leclerc has been performing better than Sainz and has only lost out to him because of reliability issues. 

Nevertheless, Carlos Sainz remains optimistic as he still wants to win a championship. In a video uploaded on Twitter, Carlos Sainz said “What I want now is to win the championships, but especially to win with this shirt, with these colors.” “As a driver, I think it would be the maximum you can achieve.” The Spaniard saw eye to eye with his teammate, who also dreams about winning a championship with Ferrari.
