Ricciardo had a poor 2021 season. He was having difficulties adapting to the McLaren car. The Honey Badger thought that the 2022 season would be the year of his success with McLaren. But it turned out that he still has problems with the team.

Daniel failed to shine at the Barcelona pre-season testing and then he had to miss the Bahrain testing due to illness. But the Aussie returned to the paddock for the Bahrain GP. But had to be on the sidelines on the Friday testing because of a water leak in his MCL36. He did eventually get to drive his 2022 challenger, but the FP3 performance wasn’t impressive.
