Ever since he arrived at McLaren, Lando Norris played the role of the junior driver. Earlier, it was Carlos Sainz who assumed the senior driver’s role, then it was Daniel Ricciardo‘s turn. He was still finding his feet in the championship when he shared the garage with Carlos but really came out as a star driver when Daniel joined him. Since Oscar Piastri’s arrival, Lando’s role has reversed. The Briton has, until now, held his ground well. But there’s a different road test where the Aussie got the better of him.

In F1, they often say that your teammate is your biggest rival. That is because all drivers are extremely competitive and hate to lose against another driver who is driving the same car. Oscar may be in his rookie season but his past exploits are something for Lando to be extremely careful about. In an interview last year, he himself admitted that it would really “hurt” if his young teammate beat him in his rookie year.

Oscar Piastri comes out victorious against Lando Norris

As fans wait for regular action in F1 to resume, teams are putting out fun content to keep them engaged. McLaren, keeping up with the trend, recently uploaded a video of Lando and Oscar taking a road safety theory test based on British rules and regulations. The Australian rookie, just like his teammate, holds a British driving license but it was expected of Norris to win the quiz easily. Things turned out to be quite different as Piastri won with a 7-3 scoreline.

That had some fans worrying for Lando’s safety on public roads. All in good fun, though. Take a look at some reactions from the comments section on YouTube.

“I thought Piastri seemed arrogant but Norris is in trouble. Piastri will quickly become the favourite in the team if his interpersonal intelligence is as high as his IQ. (Assuming that he performs on track)”

“Should Lando be allowed to drive? I think he should make another drivers license test”

Another fan wondered how Oscar was able to answer UK road safety questions despite being from Australia.

“Oscar is technically an immigrant to the UK and knows the highway code better than Lando, who is a British citizen”

Others cautioned themselves for any future event in case they met Lando on the road.

“note to self: if u see lando in the car ahead, pray”

“Oscar being a model student while Lando doesn’t seem to have a driver’s license”

“‘This is basically our job’ Oscar about driving, the realest of real.”
