Crashes and accidents in motorsport racing are never a pleasant sight for anyone. So, when Romain Grosjean’s fiery crash in the 2020 Bahrain GP happened, it left everyone shell-shocked, including fellow driver Daniel Ricciardo.
The accident showcased the dangers of the sport, and at the same time, how safety had advanced in F1. Ricciardo expressed his thoughts on the subject and feels these incidents raise the ‘alarms’ for some drivers.
Ricciardo stated, “I think some drivers can be a little bit… I don’t know if it’s proud or scared… to change the sport from a safety point of view. Because to be honest it’s why we grew up loving the sport.”

“We started racing go-karts from a young age because it was dangerous, because it was a little bit rebellious. It was wild, it was fast and it gave you a good spike of adrenaline.”
Over the years, F1 has also lost a few drivers owing to such terrible crashes. It is exactly at such points in time that make people involved with racing sit up and take notice, highlighting the dangers associated with motorsports.
