Last year’s Championship finale between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen was marred by controversy. However, it would appear that a final twist is right around the corner. If Red Bull is found to be in breach of last year’s cost cap rules, Hamilton could be crowned the 2021 F1 World Driver’s Champion.

Red Bull is currently being investigated by the FIA for a possible cost cap breach. It has been alleged that the Milton-Keynes-based outfit exceeded the $145 million restriction set for the 2021 season. If this is true, then Verstappen could potentially be stripped off his maiden World Championship.

However, Lewis Hamilton, the potential benefactor from this fiasco, isn’t too fussed.

He said, “I’ve not really given it much attention, to be honest. It’s all whispers at the moment. I don’t know enough about it to be able to make a sensible comment.”

He went on to shower heaps of praise on his team whilst taking a slight dig at Red Bull. “I’m not thinking particularly anything. I’m proud of my team for the diligence that they’ve done to run to the rules.”

You could excuse Hamilton for not thinking too much about an 8th World Title. As it happened, he was already made busy with the FIA. At the Singapore Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton’s team was fined by the FIA for breaching the Sporting Regulations.

Mercedes fined $25,000 by the FIA for Lewis Hamilton’s nose stud

According to the FIA’s International Sporting Code, a driver must not be wearing any jewelry, being a part of any competitive session. At the beginning of the season, the Brit was given an exemption to figure out this jewelry situation.

After filing a scrutineering form that said he wouldn’t don any jewelry, Hamilton was caught out wearing his nose studs.

Consequently, he was summoned to the stewards and Mercedes received a $25K penalty. Talking about the same, Hamilton said, “At this point, I don’t really care to be honest.”

He went on to explain the cause for his nonchalance, “It’s crazy that we’re having to talk about something so small. I take everything else out.”
