McLaren finds itself in a desperate rut currently. After the promise of 2020 and 2021, the team has only fallen backward since. But in all of this, the team doesn’t appear to be the worst victim. In fact, their talisman, Lando Norris seems to have gotten the shortest end of the stick. Oozing with talent and championship promise, it’s as though the 23-year-old is just wasting the precious years of his prime.

With his contract ending in 2025, the Brit has two-and-a-half years to get the Woking-based team delivering to his expectations. But it isn’t as simple as it seems, though. McLaren has brought upgrades, and they do work relatively well. However, there is a far treacherous demon possessing the car that Norris has finally decided to expose.

The time for niceties is over per Norris. And calling the MCL60 troubling would be a huge understatement. With the Canadian Grand Prix up next, the British racing ace held no prisoners while explaining exactly why he wasn’t looking forward to the streets of Montreal.

Motorsport-Total.com quoted him as saying, “To be honest, no track suits us. It’s not just that we’re missing 20 points of downforce at the front and 20 points at the rear. It’s the actual handling, the characteristics of the car, that we also have to improve in some way,” while he publicly slammed the DNA of McLaren’s 2023 challenger.

Red Bull and Norris have been linked with each other in the past. Well, Red Bull is the team to beat and Norris is the man of the future. Hence, why not? This is exactly what ex-F1 race winner, Johnny Herbert, has been mulling over, too.

In a conversation with OLGB, Herbert opined, “Lando Norris has a long-term contract with McLaren. I think it would be a good move for Red Bull. It would add positivity to the team and I think he is more than capable of being able to deal with that position.”
