A powerful and devastating earthquake hit western Syria and Central Turkey on February 6, 2023. This was one of the deadliest earthquakes both in Turkish and Syrian history as well as in world history. The earthquake clocked at a massive 7.8 magnitude on the Richter scale and took over 6000 lives and counting as per various reports. As the world mourns the dead and takes necessary steps to recover from the devastation, Mercedes-Benz [Mercedes AMG F1’s primary owners] stepped up to do their part and donated one million dollars to the aid cause.

The earthquake in Syria and Turkey caused massive panic around the world. Multiple countries and organizations have chosen to help the victims of these two nations,  one among them is Mercedes Benz. The automobile giants’ official Twitter handle tweeted the information and let the news out.

The tweet says, “We are donating one million euros [$1.07 million] to @roteskreuz_de for the people in Turkey and Syria who have been affected by the severe earthquakes. The donation will be used for local humanitarian aid in order to quickly provide the bare essentials.” Mercedes has decided to send the money to the earthquake-struck places through the German branch of the Red Cross.

As soon as the information landed on the internet, fans flocked in to share their thoughts on it. The fans have praised and lauded the efforts put up by the German giants. They took to Twitter to share their feedback as Mercedes geared to help Syria and one of F1’s favorites, Turkey.

The world, including that of motorsport, has been in a state of shock over the recent disheartening scenario in Turkey and Syria. Top motorsport officials and personalities, including Lewis Hamilton and Mick Schumacher, shared their grief and condolences to the deceased families.
