With the Canadian Grand Prix coming up, let’s look back at one previous winner, Lewis Hamilton. The Briton started his incredible journey with Mclaren back in 2007. He has come a long way since 103 race wins to be exact, but Hamilton’s first victory is still one to remember. In fact, Hamilton’s entire rookie season was one to remember as the young Brit broke multiple records all season.

Rookie Hamilton’s debut for Mclaren was at the Australian Grand Prix, a race he finished incredibly on the podium. Hamilton started his Formula 1 journey with a P3 finish, a claim few drivers can make. However, as the season progressed, the Hamilton kept on improving and produced one of the most incredible rookie seasons in sport’s history.

As we know, Hamilton’s first win came at the Canadian GP which was the sixth race of the season. Astonishingly though, the then McLaren man finished every single race on the podium until then. The Briton had only experienced parc ferme till his tenth race because he did not settle for a podium-less finish until then.

As per reporting of the Canadian GP, it was a tough race with safety cars and debris everywhere. However, Hamilton did not let that come in the way of his first win.
Post-race the commentators could not help but compliment the man as they said, “There was never really any doubt in the mind of anybody in Formula 1 that we will be witnessing this moment sooner, rather than later. But how soon it has come has astonished everybody. No one has ever started in Formula One like this guy has. It’s completely unprecedented.”

The porpoising in Baku caused more damage to the Mercedes team compared to the other races in one aspect. The physical health of their drivers. Both Hamilton and Russell complained all weekend with no choice but to race with significant discomfort.
And the Mercedes chief strategist, James Vowles, admits they made a mistake. He said, “On this occasion though we pushed the package and our drivers too far. We are putting them in significant discomfort and we simply can’t do that again.”

With or without updates to the W13 for the Canadian GP, one thing’s for sure: Hamilton will not sit out a race.
