In the 2022 season, we have witnessed the Formula 1 testing the drone camera shots at the Spanish Grand Prix. Coming to the British Grand Prix, the viewers got another angle in form of the ‘Pedal Cam’ which made a return to the sport after more than 20 years.
The Pedal Cam was installed on the Mclaren of Lando Norris in FP-1 session at Silverstone. It provided a unique view into how a driver accelerates through a high-speed corner or how one applies breaks when approaching an apex. Unfortunately, due to the bad weather at Silverstone, the FP-1 had limited on-track running, and we saw very few clips of the pedal cam in action.
I know it doesn’t look like much.
But pedal cam tells you a lot, so happy they brought this back

However, this is not the first time we witness the pedal cam in 2022. Earlier in a filming day at Misano, the camera was installed in the cockpit of AlphaTauri driver, Pierre Gasly to provide an insight into how a Formula 1 driver takes a lap around a circuit.
The success of the ‘Helmet Cam’ has encouraged the head of management to improve the broadcasting technology and techniques ensuring a higher audience engagement throughout the three days of action.
British Grand Prix translates into the home race for Lando Norris, who will be a popular figure at the track this weekend. The installation of the camera on his car can be a strategic decision, given that he will be one of the most sought-after drivers this weekend.
F1 Twitter Reacts to the Pedal Cam
The live coverage of the Pedal Cam sent Twitter fans into a frenzy. The efforts of the management to provide a new viewpoint was appreciated by numerous fans as it helped them understand more about driving a Formula 1 car.

why is no one else freaking out over pedal cam 🫥

Nevertheless, there were multiple fans who failed to understand the point of viewing the accelerator and brake pedals being engaged by a Formula 1 driver.
Utterly pointless the way they did it. Needs to be a split screen with either exterior cams or rollhoop/nose cone cams so we can see what the movement relates to
