The 2022 season for Mercedes started in a disastrous fashion as they failed to nail down the car under the new regulations. However, the last few races have seen them have a mid-season revival with major upgrades giving a massive performance boost. Even though their results have improved, driver George Russell had some serious words for the team.

Although, the team has secured podium finishes in each of the last 6 races, including back-to-back double podiums at France and then Hungary, Russell has come out and said, “We’re definitely closing that gap, there’s no doubt, but the four cars ahead of us certainly have the pace advantage,”
He went on to add, “Hopefully after the summer break, we’ll add some extra things to the car, but as does everybody, so it’s not going to be straightforward.”
Russell concluded with, “I don’t think we’ll probably ever have the car that will be outright quickest.”

Russell will be hoping to come back from the summer break and pick up where they left off. The Silver Arrows are still chasing their elusive maiden win this season, although they have been inching ever closer.
George Russell accuses Red Bull and Ferrari of pushing the boundaries concerning technical regulations
Mercedes have been chasing the taillights of their rivals, Ferrari and Red Bull, ever since the start of the season. Although lately, they have been catching the two teams, driver George Russell has gone on to make some bold claims about them.

The Briton, speaking to Sky Sports, said, “There are some changes to some of the regulations which may bring other teams towards us.”
He went on to add, “There is no doubt Ferrari and Red Bull have pushed the regulations in that regard and we have respected it as the regulation was intended.”

Will the new directives slow Red Bull and Ferrari down? In any case, all the fans are eagerly waiting for the season to resume in Belgium. Russell himself will be looking to come back from his holidays re-energized and raring to go.
