Formula 1 and its drivers always ensure to take a stand against social challenges. Daniel Ricciardo is one of the most loved and cheerful drivers on the grid. He ensures to make the most of his platform and often leaves every fan with a huge smile on their face.


One would associate a mustache on an F1 driver with the former world champion, Nigel Mansell. However, at the 2021 Qatar GP, the Australian featured a fresh stash on his face. He featured a new look to associate himself with the Movember movement.

Movember is an amalgamation of the word Mo for mustache and the month of November. It is not uncommon for the males of the society to grow their facial hair during this time. This is an annual event held to raise awareness against cancer. The 33-year-old in an interview with Ziggo Sport revealed the reason behind his new trim.

The interviewer said “The female fans ask about your mustache” 

The Aussie chuckled and asked, “What do you think?”

The interviewer replied, “It’s porn, a porn mustache.”

Ricciardo acknowledged and said “Oh porn mustache, yeah yeah, porn mustache. For Movember, so the team, all the mechanics are doing. You know it’s for Movember, we are all doing a Movember. We are not making a movie, no adult movies here, just supporting a good cause” 

The actions of the Australian and the British racing stable against one of the worst calamities set an example for the rest.

Daniel Ricciardo: The chief of optimism

The Perth-born racing driver is the brand ambassador of the Australian company, Optus. The company entitles him as the ‘Chief of Optimism’ in their organization. It is the second largest wireless carrier in the land of the Kangaroos.

With the firm focused on network speeds, it was an easy choice to choose an individual for whom speed is second nature. The ‘Yes’ featured on Riccardo’s crash helmet represents his association with the Optus brand.

The McLaren driver spoke about his title by saying “I was immediately interested when Optus first approached me with the opportunity to be their chief of optimism. It’s a really interesting and novel way to partner with a brand, and I love what Optus is about.”

“The role is all about creating a positive atmosphere and fostering an attitude of optimism within the company, plus being a role model for the broader community.

“For me, I consider optimism as an active quality, so I channel my efforts in engaging with employees and helping them see how they can apply it and use its power to problem solve – as a way of looking at the world.” he added.

Presently, Ricciardo is under fire for his poor stint of performance. Nevertheless, the chief of optimism keeps his head high and aims to let his driving do the talking for the rest of the 2022 season.
