Usually, when a driver has a poor season in Formula 1, they’re quickly guided towards the exit door. But Nikita Mazepin, despite his season being spluttered with one bad moment after the other, is unsurprisingly an exception.

Now everyone knows why he cannot be shown the exit door from Haas but, in a video that surfaced recently, Mazepin appeared to be ‘escorted out’ of a nightclub after a presumable altercation.

But the Russian furiously dismissed the speculations and clarified that things weren’t as they seemed.

“Definitely nobody was kicked out,” Mazepin said as reported in Sky.

“I was angry because one of my engineers left us. I invited everyone from the team, but unfortunately one of them was not allowed in.”

Günther Steiner, the Haas Team Principal, also clarified that the situation only comprised spoken words and simply Mazepin explaining his point in the heat of the moment.

Nikita Mazepin and his engineer

It appears Nikita Mazepin was trying to make it up to his engineer after what happened in Mexico.

During Qualifying, Mazepin had blamed his teammate Mick Schumacher for being ‘slow’ as he asked permission to overtake him. But his race engineer instructed him to stay behind the German, to which Mazepin made a sarcastic, if not an inappropriate comment.

“Are you having a laugh?”

“I’m not having a laugh Nikita,” his race engineer replied, with no hint of sarcasm in his voice.

Mazepin has been surrounded in criticism even before he actually drove a lap. The mere rumours of the Russian getting an F1 drive made him a regular target for brutal criticism from ‘fans’ before the season began.

And during the season, his on-track performances didn’t help his case either. So, it’s fair to say that Nikita Mazepin has failed to answer his doubters in the best way a sports person can, by performing.

When one factors in the other controversies surrounding the Russian driver, along with his feud with teammate Mick Schumacher, it’s quite clear that Haas aren’t getting little positives from Mazepin whether on track, off track, as a teammate or as a driver.
