Max Verstappen has been ruling the grid for a long time now. So, for Christian Horner, the post-qualifying and post-race interviews have been pretty light and easy. But in Hungary, Lewis Hamilton found his pace again and out-qualified Verstappen by 3 thousandths of a second. In the post-qualifying interview with Nico Rosberg, Horner tried to downplay Hamilton’s Pole Lap. But the fiery character that Rosberg is wasn’t having any of it.

“The enemy of my enemy is my friend” – A quote that Rosberg stood by in front of Christian Horner. Hamilton and Rosberg were arch-enemies in the past. In the interview, the British Team Principal was asked about his thoughts on the Qualifying. He said, “Max had a snap at (Turn) 13 but second on the grid… front row is still very good.” Instead of acknowledging Hamilton’s comeback, Horner spoke about Verstappen’s mistake that cost him time. Rosberg clapped back at him, saying, “I think Lewis actually left a bit on the road there as well. He had a similar slap in the last two. So maybe it’s not too dissimilar.”

Christian Horner Defends Sergio Perez From Nico Rosberg’s Hard-Hitting Question

Nico Rosberg has the most straightforward and frank questions and counter-statements in F1 interviews. He never holds back from speaking what’s on his mind. And when he got a chance to catch Christian Horner in a tough position, he did so. And he hit where it hurt. A perplexed Rosberg asked Horner why Sergio Perez got only P9 and was 4 tenths slower than Verstappen.

In reply, Horner said, “That’s the first time he’s been in Q3 since Miami so that was important for him to get there. But he’s not going to be happy being in P9. He’s got to race well tomorrow but we’ve got to give him a good strategy.”
