The 2021 title battle is the one that F1 fans have been craving for so long. The last title fight that went down to the wire was between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg back in 2016. Nico Rosberg is arguably the most fierce competitor Lewis Hamilton has faced in the V6 turbo hybrid era.
The German clinched the world title in 2016 with the Silver Arrows after outpacing Hamilton in the season finale. Now he is team boss in Extreme E, a racing series for electric off-road vehicles. However, Rosberg has immense respect for what the Briton has achieved over the years. More recently, he revisited the intense battle with Lewis and how tough it was to beat the seven-time world champion.

Rosberg’s call for this championship winner
Rosberg was recently asked about his opinions on the potential winner of the 2021 WDC. The two title contenders are separated by an 8-point difference. The German believes that although the fight is a close one, Hamilton might just pull off another clinical performance to win his record 8th title.

“It’s a sensationally close fight! Emotionally, I say Lewis. His experience speaks for him. But the championship is totally open,” said the former Silver Arrows driver as reported by Sportbuzzer.
Apart from that, he actively recognizes what Max has achieved this season. Nevertheless, he believes this duel won’t be an easy one for him. “Max makes that really super powerful. The mental is essential in such a duel. It is certainly not easy for Max, because this is his first time in such a situation. And then against the most successful Formula 1 driver of all time. In this respect, he has already deserved the greatest recognition,” said the German as reported by Sportbuzzer.
