The Qatar Grand Prix is all set to take place in the Losail International Circuit this weekend. The venue has hosted several MotoGP events but this is the first time an F1 car will race on this track.
Sergio Perez is the only driver in the grid who has raced on this track, during 2009 GP2 Asia. He won the sprint race while Nico Hulkenburg went on to win the feature race.

Former F1 driver Nico Hulkenberg still holds the record for fastest lap in this circuit which is 1:35:741. The German won that race starting from pole and his fellow GP2 rookie Sergio Perez came home second. We can easily expect this record to get smashed this time around when the paddock lands in Qatar.
TIL @HulkHulkenberg holds the absolute lap record at the Losail International Circuit. A 1:35.741 min. got him pole position for the GP2 Asia series feature race in 2009 – which he won. Winner of the sprint race that year was @SChecoPerez.#AMuS #F1 #QatarGP @losailcircuit

Nico Hulkenberg was a part of F1 for 10 years starting in 2010 and then from 2012-20. He had a fairly decent career with Williams. Sauber, Force India, Renault, and Racing Point. He went from down to up and down again. With tremendous success on the junior level, he was expected to perform on the topmost level sooner than later.
His best season was in 2018 where he finished 7th in drivers’ standings. He holds an unwanted record of most Grand Prix appearances without finishing on the podium. The German is currently serving as a reserve driver for the Aston Martin F1 team.
What to expect at Qatar Grand Prix
The Losail Circuit is a 3.3-mile track with 16 corners and one DRS zone between T-16 and T-1. The distance from pole to the first braking zone, that is T1, is 371 meters, so expect some carnage there.
There are going to be a lot of interesting battles as we have entered the concluding phase of the championship. Mercedes vs Red Bull would be the most gripping context to witness alongside because this fresh track is expected to be a neutral venue for all the teams.

The track does not have corners like Baku, so we can witness some high-level overtaking as well.
