Nicholas Latifi will depart the F1 grid after his current contract with Williams Racing expires at the end of the season. The Canadian had a troublesome 3 years stint at Williams. Moreover, Latifi has been consistently beaten by his teammate in his 3-year stay. Now, the Williams driver had made an honest assessment of his chances to return to F1.

It was yet another disappointing race for the Canadian driver as he finished P18 in the Mexican GP. Latifi has endured a tough time throughout the campaign. However, he’ll be hoping to end his F1 tenure on a high in the final two races of the season.

Moreover, Nicholas Latifi had an interesting assessment of his return to the F1 paddock. Outgoing McLaren driver Daniel Ricciardo looks more likely to take up a reserve driver role for next year. However, the Williams driver denied interest in following the same path.

Latifi said on the Beyond the Grid podcast, “I think the only way I would consider a third driver role is if I saw a realistic way to return to the grid in F1, which speaking bluntly, and honestly, I don’t see to be the case.”

As per rumors, Nicholas Latifi is likely to join IndyCar after his F1 stint. However, a door to endurance racing is an option as well.

Nicholas Latifi is keeping his options open after the F1 exit

After getting snubbed by Williams Racing and not getting an F1 contract for next season, Latifi is keeping his future options open. The Canadian discussed multiple options that he’s considering after his stint with Williams ends. Moreover, Latifi will be looking to add to his existing tally of 9 points in the final two races.

Latifi said, “I obviously feel I have some things to offer, so that’s not to say 100 per cent I want to do IndyCar, 100 per cent I want to do endurance racing, 100 per cent I’m not racing or taking a year off.

The 27-year-old also added that time was certainly on his side. Additionally, more than anything else, Latifi is focused on ending his F1 career on a high.

He stated, “It’s not really much more, many more juicy details to give, it’s still kind of undecided and keeping the options open and just kind of wanting to end these last two races on a high.
