After opening up its stadium to NFL, rugby, and boxing fixtures, Tottenham Hotspur is ready to open their doors to Formula 1. The London-based soccer club has signed a 15-year partnership deal with F1 that will feature a never seen before spectacle taking place in their gigantic 62,850-seater stadium. The soccer club aims to serve society in many ways that they revealed through their official website. Fans, however, are far from pleased and slammed the club’s owner Daniel Levy for being “greedy”.

Spurs registered their bid to host the Super Bowl in 2026 last year. They built the New White Hart Lane stadium at an eye-watering cost of 1 billion pounds ($1.21 billion). However, there are still many factors that might prove to be a roadblock to their ambition to host the annual event. Nevertheless, they will host at least two games per season until the end of 2027.

Spurs recently broke the news to fans about their 15-year deal with F1 that will include hosting the first-ever in-stadium karting race. The track, according to their official website, will open in the Autumn of 2023. The $2.35 billion worth (as per Forbes) club hopes to raise employment opportunities for the community and also provide an opportunity for local young talent. A driver academy program to hone and scout talent is also in the pipeline.

F1 fans did not take too well to the news as one user on Instagram slammed the move, writing, “greedy Levy more profit over glory #Levyout”.
