Daniel Ricciardo might not have a driver’s seat in F1 for 2023, but he is still entertaining fans with his off-track antics. Be it his iconic “Pierre Gasly” chant or his reels for Red Bull, the funny influencer in him has amplified. Since he is now the reserve driver for Red Bull, he has more time on his hands to explore other opportunities. And in his latest opportunity with ESPN’s show, his “best friend” showed up to give him a pleasant surprise.
During the Canadian GP, ESPN aired a new show ‘The Grandstand’, with Ricciardo as a co-host alongside Canadian superstar, Will Arnett. The show did not strike the right chord with the audience even though Ricciardo is one of the most loved personalities in F1. Will Arnett was even criticized for being “confused” and not qualified for the job. But Ricciardo’s wholesome interaction with surprise guest Buffalo Bills Quarterback, Josh Allen, was a delight.

Will Arnett introduced Josh Allen as Daniel Ricciardo’s “Best Friend in the entire world”. In the video reshared by Daniel Ricciardo, his jaw drops as soon as he sees Allen on his screen. He captioned the post as “Is the man crush that obvious?” Well, judging by his reaction, it is too obvious. Even Josh Allen looked ecstatic to meet his old friend again.
Judging by their reactions, one would think Ricciardo and Allen’s friendship goes a long way back. But this brotherhood is only 4 years old.

It feels odd to call it a brotherhood after Ricciardo termed Allen his “Man Crush”. Daniel Ricciardo first met Josh Allen at the 2019 Monaco Grand Prix. Allen was there as a spectator, cheering the drivers on. It was there that they instantly hit it off. The common points that they found in their sports were the pressure that athletes at the top have to deal with, and that Ricciardo is a big Buffalo Bills fan.
In 2022, the Australian driver even got a chance to watch Allen live in action in the NFL when the Buffalo Bills took on the New York Jets at MetLife stadium. Ricciardo was behaving like a true fan as he childishly cheered on his buddy.

Though the first episode of Ricciardo’s show might not have worked well, this segment with Allen was an entertaining one. There are 2 more episodes to follow – One in Austin and the other in Las Vegas. The Vegas episode should be an elaborate one considering that it is the first time that F1 races at the Las Vegas strip.
