The US Grand Prix was surrounded by drama from the get-go. Aside from the race and all the F1 movie drama, there was another incident that caught the attention of fans around the world.

The problematic tradition of the F1 track side models, known as the grid girls, was banned in the year 2018. The Managing Director of Operation in F1, Sean Bratches, stated that, “This custom does not resonate with our brand values and clearly is at odds with modern day societal norms.”
However, in Austin, cheerleaders of NFL football teams, the ‘Dallas Cowboys’ and the ‘Houston Texans‘ were present at the grid as they cheered on the drivers in the stands. As this practice contradicts the ban on ‘grid girls’, a lot of fans spoke out. Some against and some in favor of the ‘tradition’.
The Dallas Cowboys cheer squad was present on Friday during the qualifying session. The Houston squad eventually came in on the race day on Sunday at COTA.
This started a dialogue among F1 fans as they debated the merits and demerits of having a cheering squad.
Twitter had a lot to say about the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans cheerleaders squad at the F1 grid
Fans were surprised to find ‘cheerleaders’ on the circuit during race day. Some called it funny, whilst some were furious and urged the United States to ‘stop trying to shove cheerleaders into every fr**king sport’. Here’s what they had to say:
houston texan cheerleaders at F1 ??? is it not football season???? they gave up cheering for texans????? lol same actually

As a former professional cheerleader can I formally request that the United States stop trying to shove cheerleaders into every freaking sport! F1 doesn't need cheerleaders. Pure ridiculousness. GTFO. #COTA #AustinGP

Am I the only one who thinks that F1 was being hypocritical with doing away with grid girls, but was perfectly fine with cheerleaders at COTA in between Quali sessions?

We’ve come a long way with dismissing traditions that don’t fit the current times. For good reason, most would say. However, some still beg to differ on the subject. There’ll always be a debate on such matters. Where do you stand on having a cheerleader squad in F1?
