When it comes to being passionate about racing, few can top Daniel Ricciardo in the paddock. His incessant effort to be lively and passionate about anything he pursues makes him an awesome personality. Besides F1, Ricciardo has made no secret of the fact that he loves other sports, especially the NFL. Back in 2017, he put some light on how his interest in American Football steadily made him a Fanboy.

In a 2017 interview with CNN’s The Circuit, Daniel stated how he loves the American fans’ passion, especially in the NFL. He said, “I really like the way Americans do sports. I’ve only started following American football in the last few years. I really like the setup of it, the chants, the camaraderie.”

Despite being Aussie at heart, Ricciardo has opened up to several American sporting leagues like the NFL, NASCAR, and the NBA, too. The Honey Badger further added, “It’s a show at the end of the day.”

“Sure, you want to watch the game and the rivalries between teams, but part of the fun is the build-up and lead-up, and Americans do the lead-up to an event so well.”

Daniel has become a huge fan of the Buffalo Bills over the years. His initial love for American Football started with college football watching the Texas Longhorns. Though, as he started getting more involved in it, he chose the Bills as his favorite NFL team.

The Australian driver has been ever since an avid fan of the NFL. He even visited the Bills’ practice ahead of their game against the New York Jets last month. It was a dream moment for Daniel, as watched the game as a celebrity attendee.

How Daniel Ricciardo developed his NFL Passion

The 2020 Super Bowl game was the first live NFL game Daniel Ricciardo watched. The game peaked his enthusiasm for football, as Kansas City Chiefs were triumphant over the San Francisco 49ers. That’s how Daniel became a big fan of the NFL as a whole and started supporting the Bills.

Since then, Daniel has been one of the Bills’ Mafia and received a lot of love when he watched the team’s clash against the Jets this year. The Aussie often turns up in the F1 paddock too in the Bills’ jersey. His fandom for the NFL and all other American sports reaches a high point during the US GP in Texas every year.

Ricciardo wore the Texas Longhorns jersey in Austin once in full football spirits. This year, Danny Ric also played some football at COTA with another avid NFL fan, Lance Stroll.
